2012 Meeting
The Captains Breakfast was held on December 12 at Ropes & Gray. Greater Boston Legal Services Executive Director Jacqui Bowman shared how legal aid attorneys helped a single mother gain custody of her children after her husband fled with them to Kenya.
2012 Walk to the Hill attendance awards were presented to:
- 1st Place: Ropes & Gray - 65 attorneys
- 2nd Place: Bingham McCutchen - 36 attorneys
- 3rd Place: Goodwin Procter - 33 attorneys
- Nancy King Award (highest percentage of firm participation): Sally & Fitch - 16 out of 21 attorneys
2011 Meeting
The Captains Breakfast was held on December 5 at Bingham McCutchen, with team captains representing more than 30 law firms in attendance. Greater Boston Legal Services Executive Director Jacqui Bowman discussed how the prolongued funding crisis has severely impacted advocates and clients.
EJC Chair Sandy Moskowitz handed out 2011 Walk to the Hill attendance awards to the following firms (see photos at right):
- 1st Place: Presented to Dan Routh of Ropes & Gray - 42 attorneys
- 2nd Place: Presented to Bryan Conley of WilmerHale - 41 attorneys
- 3rd Place: Presented to Jeannie Kampas and Katy Meszaros of Nutter McClennen & Fish - 25 attorneys
- Nancy King Award (highest percentage of firm participation): Presented to Melissa D'Alelio of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi - 7 out of 15 attorneys
2010 Meeting
The annual Captains meeting was held on December 7 at Ropes & Gray. Team captains representing nearly 30 law firms that participated in Walk to the Hill 2010 gathered to discuss strategies to make Walk to the Hill 2011 more successful than ever. Greater Boston Legal Services housing attorney Stefanie Balandis discussed the extreme strain that the funding crisis is having on her work.
EJC Director Pattye Comfort handed out 2010 Walk to the Hill attendance awards to the following firms:
- 1st place = Presented for the 3rd consecutive year to Bryan S. Conley of WilmerHale (50 attorneys)
- 2nd place = Presented to Mark Smith of Goodwin Procter (44 attorneys)
- 3rd place = Presented to Kathy Falkenstrom & Rosalyn Nasdor of Ropes & Gray (40 attorneys)
- Nancy King Award = Presented for the 3rd consecutive year to James Re of Sally & Fitch (17 of 20 attorneys = 85% of firm attorneys participated).
2009 Meeting
The Walk to the Hill Captains Lunch took place on December 8 at Choate Hall & Stewart. The following captains were recognized with “Best Attendance” awards for their firms’ participation in Walk to the Hill 2009:
- 1st place: Jeffrey Gleason and Jonathan Thessin of WilmerHale (75 attorneys particpated)
- 2nd place: Kathy Falkenstrom of Ropes & Gray (56 attorneys participated)
- 3rd place: Jim DiTullio and Brian Barry of Choate Hall & Stewart (55 attorneys participated)
- Best Percentage: Jim Re of Sally & Fitch (68% of the firm’s attorneys participated).
2008 Meeting
EJC Director Pattye Comfort handed out 2008 Walk to the Hill attendance awards to the following firms:
- 1st place: Ben Strauss, Jonathan Thessin and Jeffrey Gleason of WilmerHale (61 attorneys participated)
- 2nd place: Dara Kesselheim & Brian Barry of Choate Hall & Stewart (38 attorneys participated)
- 3rd place: Joshua Stayn of Goodwin Procter (29 attorneys participated)
- Best Percentage: Jim Re of Sally & Fitch (75% of the firm’s attorneys participated)
